SERP
A SERP (Search Engine Results Page) is the page Google shows in response to a user's query, including organic results, ads, and rich features.
Modern SERPs include far more than 10 blue links. Common features include featured snippets, People Also Ask, knowledge panels, video carousels, image packs, local packs, and AI Overviews.
Why SERP matters
SERP layout heavily influences how much traffic each ranking position earns. Position 1 with a featured snippet above it may get less click traffic than expected — and AI Overviews can compress organic CTR further.
How SERP works in practice
Analyze SERPs for every target keyword before content briefing. Match content type and depth to what Google currently rewards; ignoring SERP intent is the #1 reason content underperforms.
