Link Building

    Three-Way Link Exchange

    Quick definition

A three-way (or 'ABC') link exchange is when three sites cross-link in a circle to disguise reciprocity — A links to B, B links to C, C links to A.

Three-way exchanges emerged as a way to hide reciprocal linking from Google's pattern detection. They're widely used in SaaS link building communities and outreach networks.

Google has publicly stated that link schemes designed to manipulate ranking — including 'excessive link exchanges' and reciprocal partnerships — violate its policies, regardless of how the loop is structured.

If you participate in three-way exchanges, treat each placement on its own merits: the link should be editorially relevant, on a real traffic-earning page, and worth keeping even if the exchange ended.
